e.l.f. Cosmetics - a true Bargain!
I came across the e.l.f. makeup collection (the name stands for Eyes, Lips, Face) last week and thought I would try them out. With everything except for the travel totes being only $1 throughout the end of October, I decided I couldn't go wrong. I placed my order on Thursday and it arrived today (2 business days later). Now, that's what I call great service! Seeing that I've already done my makeup for the day, I've only been able to try the Soothing Lip Gloss in Mauve Luxe and I have to say - it's amazing! My lips have the glossy look, it's staying on and not fading, plus it contains an anti-inflammatory rich lip conditioner to protect against dryness (perfect for the winter months ahead of us). And the reason why I think it will become my favorite lip stick/gloss - I don't have to apply lip balm on first. I never like the way lipstick feels on my lips without it - always gets into my lines. Taking a step out of applying makeup is always a good thing. Tomorrow I'll try the Shimmering Facial Whip in Persimmon.
Another great thing about e.l.f. - each week there is always a free item with any purchase. Give e.l.f. a try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

It's a Giant Fortune Cookie!
I love this unique wedding idea! Good Fortunes is the original giant fortune cookie company - these fortune cookies make wonderful gifts for the wedding couple or as a BIG thank you to parents, friends or loved ones. They would also be perfect as the invite to ask Bridesmaids, Maid of Honor, Groomsmen and Best Man to be a part of your wedding.
The fortune cookies are dipped in your choice of decadent dark chocolate, white chocolate or carmel rolled in toffee and are elegantly decorated with edible wedding decorations. They come wrapped in cellophane and are tied with a beautiful ribbon to match the decor of the cookie.
The best part of the fortune cookie? It can be personalized! You can say anything you want, up to 10 sentences in length. As Good Fortunes says, 'It's a gift and a greeting card all in one!™'.
These cookies are a hit with celebrities too - Kevin James (Hitch, King of Queens) used these cookies at his wedding and Oprah requested them for her "dream weddings" segment.
And if you're looking for a gift for another celebration - Good Fortunes has you covered. They have Giant Fortune Cookies for Valentine's Day, birthdays, Christmas, a new baby, graduation, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and everything in between. Go ahead and send a giant fortune cookie - you're guaranteed to put a BIG smile on someone's face.

Wedding bells are ringing on this week's "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart"
We've just received an email letting us know that Confetti Cakes owner, Elisa Strauss will play a part in this week's segment of, Martha Stewart : The Apprentice
This weeks episode is entitled: The Apprentice: Martha Stewart: "Bake It 'til You Make It". Each team creates, bakes and sells a wedding cake at a Wedding Expo at New York's Michael C. Fina bridal shop. One candidate makes an inappropriate remark, while another receives news that his wife has given birth.
I actually haven't watched one of the Martha Stewart apprentice shows yet, but I'll definitely be tuning in this week since the show is wedding related. Come back and post your comments on the show when it airs this week.
Wed 10/5 - NBC It usually airs at 8pm, but in my area it will be airing at 9pm this week - looks like it's a new time, so be sure to check your local listings so you don't miss the show that's all about wedding cakes.

Martha's New Show - not such a "good thing"
While I am glad that Martha Stewart is back after serving her time - I just can't seem to understand all the praise about The New Martha Show. I miss her old show (now in reruns on the Style Network) that used to be filled with her "Good Things."
Of course I still keep tuning into her new show - I guess I keep thinking that maybe one day I'll see something that I would like to actually try myself. Now I know it's a new show with a new format, but we have enough 'talk shows' on TV. We need to see Martha offer us her good tips again. Some of the ideas that didn't quite make my "good things" list from recent shows are:
- Martha and Marcia Cross making scrambled eggs and serving them in empty egg shells - don't know about you, but I like to eat my scrambled eggs with a regular size utensil, not a mini spoon.
- Martha celebrating her mom's birthday by baking a carrot cake that called for 3 sticks of butter (and that didn't even include preparing the frosting). Not exactly something that the average health conscious person would be making.
- And today, I tuned in to see Martha (with red hair) holding a rooster on top of a row of ladies hair to see which one was the closest red match.
Having just received the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings yesterday (which is filled with wonderful ideas for creating/crafting a beautiful wedding), I couldn't help but notice the difference in the Martha style before and after the 'ankle bracelet'.

An Anniversary Surprise
A follow-up post to the one from last week....This year I wanted to do something different and give my husband a special anniversary present. So, I thought, why not surprise him with an anniversary cake? I searched online for a wedding cake designer in Cape Cod and located Cakes By Rebekah. What a sweetheart! She was extremely helpful in making my surprise a success. She delivered the cake on our anniversary and Liz (owner of Bailey's By the Sea) made sure the cake was in our room when we returned from spending the day on Martha's Vineyard. Seeing we aren't such big fans of white cake, I decided on a carrot cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting. Rebekah created a wonderful anniversary cake for us. Not only was it beautiful with the scrollwork decorations and chocolate lettering saying "Happy 3rd Anniversary", but it was DELICIOUS. If you're planning a wedding in Cape Cod, I would highly recommend you contact Cakes By Rebekah to create your dream wedding cake.
